There’s definitely an upfront cost to better coordination, but the real comparison should be against the cost of variations, redesign, delays and rework when coordination problems are discovered on site.

A digital clash is almost always cheaper than a physical clash’ sums this up perfectly. Finding a services clash on a screen is very different to finding it after the structure has already been built.
